20 Polyethylene ANAPACKAGE trickling filter based treatment plant is composed of: GREASE TRAP, made of PE. It is meant to be put on the grey water line. BIOLOGICAL IMHOFF TANK,made of PE.It is meant to be put on the black water line. TRICKLING FILTER, made of PE. The tank is filled with polypropylene elements. Water proceeding from the above mentioned pre-treatments enters the system and its content in organic matter gets mineralised. INSPECTION CHAMBER, made of PVC. It is installed in order to allow water sampling. Dig a hole of appropriate dimensions and line a 10 cm thick sand layer at the bottom, grain size 0-5 mm, dampen the sand and level it. Connect the black water pipe to the biological Imhoff tank. Connect the grey water pipe to the grease trap.Fill the tanks with clean water to start the process. Proceed with dampened sand filling of the gaps around it. Finish with a 5 cm thick light concrete casting and a 40 cm thick earth layer on top (or with reinforced concrete in case of car passage on top of the plant ). Make sure that covers are always inspectionable. Verify that installation has been correctly carried out. Periodically remove excess sludge from bio- logical Imhoff tank. Periodically control that the filling material level in trickling filter remains the same. Micro-organisms take more than 40 days OPERATIONAL CHARACTERISTICS The grease trap is meant to remove oils and grea- ses from the water flow and enable a better performance for the trickling filter.The biological Imhoff tank, instead, separates suspended solids from the water flow and "digest" them.The trick- ling filter transforms pollutants into settable sludge. It is designed on the basis of net volume: Vn= organic load/volumetric load. to reach their standard performance level. If water flux is interrupted, micro-organisms acti- vity is stopped. It will take another 40 days to re- start the process.It is advisable to clean the trick- ling filter once a year.
