10 ACTIVATED SLUDGE PLANT, COMPACT, entirely made of polyethylene, in one piece, seamless, composed of the following phases: SEWAGE INLET: through a polypropylene or PVC pipe section: OXIDATION: of the incoming sewage. An air-blower is positioned outside the plant and it feeds air to the waste water. It works continuously and it is absolutely silent. Air allows aerobic micro-organisms to perform organic material removal. AIR DIFFUSION:by means of epdm uncloggable diffusers,delivering fine bubbles. SETTLING: of solids carried by the flow from the oxidation.This phase is performed in a partition of the plant volume, where stillness and appropriate retention time are granted. DISINFECTION: of the oxidised and clarified flow. A chlorine tablet continuously releases active reactant to the outlet flowing on top of it. Dig a hole of appropriate dimensions and line a 10 cm thick sand layer at the bottom, grain size 0-5 mm, dampen the sand and level it. Lay the plant down. Connect COMPACT’s outlet pipe to an inspection chamber by means of a Ø............. pipe. Connect the general discharge pipes to the COMPACT’s inlet pipe by means of a polypropylene or PVC pipe having Ø.............. Fill the tank with clean water and proceed with dam- pened sand filling of the gaps around it.Connect the air blower to the tank by means of the PE pipe. This needs to be inserted in the prepared Activated sludge plant COMPACT treats waste water from civil dwellings. It is installed between the sewage pipe coming from the house and final discharge. It performs sewage depuration and allows to discharge it in superficial water body. Following installation, air blower and diffu- ser have to be periodically checked. A bacterial tablet may be dosed in the oxidation volume in order to accelerate plant start up. Make sure joints. Locate the air blower in a dry and aerated place higher than the outlet pipe. Finish with a 5 cm thick light concrete casting and with a max 40 cm thick layer of earth above (or with reinforced concrete in case of car passage on top of the plant ). Make sure that covers are always inspec- tionable. In case a venting column has not been created,install a siphon before the plant and con- nect a pipe to the ausiliary venting connection foreseen on the plant . Connect the system to 220 Volts power line by plugging the plug in a socket. Functioning may be regulated by a timer. there is no sludge stagnation in the settling tank or anaerobic processes may occur. Insert the chlorine tablet in its proper position (it needs to be replaced every 3 months).Excess sludge must be removed from the plant every 6 months, con- tacting specialised companies. Make sure a ven- ting column exists. If it does not, place a siphon before the plant or create a venting column.
